Tips For Traveling Abroad

Make sure your passport and visa are up to date

Most countries require that your passport is valid for 6 months after your return date. Check the expiration date of your passport now to ensure you have time to renew it. Buy travel insurance

Depending on where you are going, it is worthwhile to consider buying emergency medical insurance. It is always best advised to be safe and not take any chances in case anything happens.

Pack appropriately

Be wary of bringing things like expensive valuables such as jewelry that could attract thieves who are experts at targeting tourists. If you wear prescription glasses, pack an extra pair. Label your bags with name, address and phone number both inside and outside your luggage.

Keep an open mind

Embrace different possibilities, opinions, religions, customs and interests. Keeping an open mind will allow you to gain knowledge about a new culture away from home.

Make a list

When packing, keep a list of all items you’ll need for your trip, from clothes to toiletries. Check off items so you don’t forget anything. This helps you stay organized and makes sure that you will have everything you need while abroad.

Learn a few words of the language in every country you visit

Learning a few phrases of the country’s native language will make it easier for you to navigate and communicate with the locals.

When you go out, take only what you need

Limit the amount of money and/or valuables you bring with you when you go out abroad. In case anything happens, this allows for easier recovery.
